Everyone is invited to share some storytelling time on Friday September 12th from 4:00pm-5:00pm.
And do not forget to accept the literacy challenge to do 60 seconds of literacy for 60 days. That’s it! Go to the Lift Off to Literacy website to pledge your commitment and get additional materials and ideas from their online kit.
ILD Candybar
A lot of folks have asked about the candybar wrappers that we made for International Literacy Day. So we have a link to our template that you are free to download and use on your own. We use a standard size Hershey’s.
Lift Off to Literacy
Lift Off to Literacy
The International Reading Association and NASA have partnered to help students across the world “Lift off to Literacy,” beginning on International Literacy Day. Club Literacy is registered to participate in this wonderful program. We are pledging an extra 60 seconds of literacy for 60 days. We will also be offering some exciting and free literacy events over the next 60 days. Please check our website calendar.
We have a special request for you! Please join as a family to pledge your commitment to literacy at http://www.reading.org/international-literacy-day-2014. If you do this, please stop by Club Literacy for a free literacy prize.
Even better, please encourage the teachers and the principal at your child’s school to sign up their students for the challenge. If you are successful in persuading your entire school to join in the challenge, Club Literacy will donate Lift off to Literacy bookmarks to the entire school. We will also provide you personally with 2 free admissions for our upcoming October storytelling event. (If you were the one who brought this to your principal or teacher’s attention and they took action!) Lastly, we will donate half the admission of our upcoming storytelling event back to your school’s library fund. (One half of the admission will be given back to the attendee’s home school – if the attendees school is registered with Lift Off to Literacy.)
If your school makes the pledge – it is perfectly fine if your school begins their 60 day pledge a few days after September 8th. Reading is what counts!
